trip to the pacific coast

On my first weekend at Palo Alto, in went on a trip to the pacific coast together with Wiebke, Steini, Sandra and Mike. After some hours at the beach (with more or less successful attempts to play beach volleyball and frisbee), we went to watch some kite surfing.

SAP campus @ Palo Alto, California

The SAP campus at Palo Alto is located at Hillview Avenue (Building D and E) and Deer Creek Road (Builing A through C). It is surrounded by a really beautiful countryside and provides a lot of places to relax and discuss work topics in a nice environment. But have a look yourself:

Since the campus is amidst nature, there are a lot of animals on campus, especially squirrels, lizards and rattlesnakes (even if I didn't see one by now...).

This the main entrance of Building D, where the office of Shai Agassi (member of the Executive Board of SAP AG) is located.

Building D also houses the cafeteria, where we have our (free) lunch. Normally we have lunch on the terrace you can see in the background.

That's Building C, where SAP Research is located. I work in the office you can see left to the entrance on the first floor.

arrival at Palo Alto

Hi there!

As you might have guessed my first trip led me to my hotel ;-) After 11 hours of flight and some discussions with the retal car company, I was glad to reach it. Before I went to sleep (after 24 hours afoot) I got myself a prepaid card and set up my bank account. First because you cannot start with house hunting without a cell phone number and second because my paycheck from SAP needs to go somewhere ;-) So here is my hotel, the San Antonio Inn in Mountain View, California:

And this is my hotel room. I stayed here for the first 5 nights before I found an accomodation. Unfortunately the hotel room had no internet connection, but plenty of TV channels :-)

And here is my rental car. It was a Pontiac G6 Sedan (of course with automatic transmission).
